Samantha Short joined Olmstead Williams Communications in 2019 and works with the firm’s healthcare, finance and tech clients. She works directly with client senior leadership and has a solid track record pitching media and earning coverage. In addition to strong media relations skills, she develops content strategies and develops comprehensive social media analytic reports. Sam is detail-oriented and thrives on developing deep knowledge of client products of services. Sam has a strong background in both the corporate and nonprofit sectors and joined OWC after working in healthcare and with an organization supporting wounded and homeless veterans.
Sam has developed and managed operations for large events and secured media coverage for them in over 20 cities across the United States. This experience made her a seasoned media relations expert, tailoring stories to a variety of print and broadcast media outlets from big cities to small rural towns. Sam supports OWC’s healthcare and finance practices by closely following reporters and studying their current topics of interest (with a special focus in the top 20 markets throughout the country) and pitching relevant reporters to cover client news.
Born and raised in Poughkeepsie, New York, Sam moved to Los Angeles in 2017 to pursue her career in public relations. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in Communications from The College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY. Sam has become an avid cyclist and enjoys riding her bike as much as possible. Although she will always be a New Yorker at heart, the sunny and warm California weather has made it easy for her to call LA her forever home.
