On the heels of Men’s Health Month and a new study from Northwestern showing how fatherhood may affect heart health, AdventHealth Cardiologist Dr. Oliver Abela and patient Rod Shirley join Gayle Guyardo the host of the nationally syndicated health and wellness show Bloom to talk about the importance of prioritizing heart health.
Shirley, a retired police officer, loving husband, father and grandfather shares his journey with a severe blood clot and heart failure. Dr. Abela identified heart failure in Shirley and placed an Impella RP Flex heart pump to allow his heart to rest and recover.
Both stressed the importance of being proactive with your health.
