Oberthur expanding EMV presence in U.S.

Oberthur Technologies, a global player in the field of smart card technology, experienced large growth leading up to the EMV transition in the United States, reported SecureIDNews. The company shipped more than 2.5 million EMV cards to U.S. banks and credit unions in 2011, and in the past six months Oberthur doubled its active American EMV programs.
There are currently 15 institutions who have partnered with the company. Oberthur’s EMV cards are manufactured at a ISO 9001 certified facility in southeastern Pennsylvania and the EMV card personalization is managed through service centers in Los Angeles, Ca. and Chantilly, Va.
