Soma Ambadapudi was running in the Chevron Houston Half Marathon when he started to feel as though something wasn’t right. It wasn’t until he stopped to take a break when he suddenly collapsed and would soon find out that he was suffering a heart attack.
Doctors placed an Impella in his heart. One of the world’s smallest heart pumps, it supports the heart while stents are placed. After several days, Ambadapudi’s condition began to improve and the Impella was removed.
