Weston Davis of San Antonio was having unusual chest pains and trouble breathing, so his daughter suggested he go get a COVID test. After the test came back negative, his doctor was getting ready to run more tests when he passed out, right in the office. Next thing he knew, he was being rushed to the ER.
“The doctor left the room and came back with a with a kit to test for strep throat,” Davis explained. “And I turned around and got dizzy, sweaty, and I collapsed on the ground. I had a heart attack right there in her room, in her office.”
Doctors informed Davis his heart was functioning at 10% so they implanted an Impella heart pump, the world’s smallest heart pump, allowing his heart to rest and recover.
