There are plenty of schools that aren’t getting the recognition they deserve, according to the new StartEngine College Index which tracks the top entrepreneurship colleges.
If tech accelerators look for talent in the same places everyone else does — at Stanford, Harvard and MIT — they’ll have to fight crowds of investors trying to do the same thing they are, writes Howard Marks in a new post at pandodaily.com. That’s why Marks’ accelerator created the new StartEngine College Index which tracks the top entrepreneurship colleges based on historical startup funding.
“Schools like Michigan have a problem. It’s not fair to them, their startup founders or investors who are seeking returns,” Marks says in the article. “How can we cut to the truth of the matter? Wouldn’t it be helpful to quantify how successfully schools produce fundable entrepreneurs? Using data, my hope was that we’d figure out which schools are underrated.”
Now, rather than engineers having to trust their gut feeling when they recruit, they can satisfy their need for a more precise solution.
