Oberthur Technologies, one of the world’s largest providers of security and identification solutions and services based on smart card technologies, today announced that it has finalized plans to open a secure service center in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The facility will enable the personalization of secure devices and documents for customers throughout Canada.
Oberthur is currently supplying contactless cards to Montreal’s transit system and SIM cards to major Canadian telecom operators. The new facility will be fully operational with payment association certifications in Q4 of this year and ready to produce VISA, MasterCard and Interac cards.
“Oberthur Technologies’ proven global ability to meet customer needs in the payment, telecom and ID markets coupled with the booming Canadian demand in these key segments are at the center of our decision to open a facility in Canada,” said Martin Ferenczi, Managing Director of the Americas Region at Oberthur Technologies.
