Southern California chain Ortho Mattress has partnered with the nonprofit organization A Place Called Home (APCH). The partnership, called “A Bed of One’s Own,” will provide beds for families in need, reports Southern California Public Radio show On Central.
The campaign officially launched a week ago, but Ortho’s mattress donations have been ongoing for the past five years, said Jonathan Zeichner, executive director of APCH. In addition to donating beds, the mattress company is selling plush toys of their mascot, Kenny Koala.
“The in-store component is a great way to build awareness for A Place Called Home – an organization near and dear to my heart – among the communities around our 67 stores,” said Ken Karmin, CEO of Ortho Mattress and a board member of APCH. “We want to raise friends as much as funds and provide our customers the opportunity to give back.”
