Alan Snyder is founder and managing partner of Shinnecock Partners.
Shinnecock Partners founder Alan Snyder is an advisor every investor should be listening to, according to an article in the Washington Times by Lisa Ruth.
Snyder is an advocate of management futures, which are essentially futures traded by professional commodity trading advisors. Unlike hedge fund or alternative investment managers, commodity trading advisors (CTAs) are carefully monitored and undergo extensive background checks.
In his interview with the Washington Times, Snyder outlined the principals Shinnecock Partners lives by to minimize volatility: protect capital; be flexible; employ super-diversification; be wary of highly leveraged strategies; and run from “guaranteed” hedges.
The firm was founded in 1988 and specializes in portfolios of third-party futures managers. This year, Shinnecock Partners was awarded the “2011 Best Managed Futures CTA Fund” by World Finance magazine.
